F.A.Q

How is the feeling to breathe and to swim underwater?

The underwater world is full of light, colour and life. In there you feel the gentle flow of the air as you breathe in and out, the lack of gravity, and the bubbles, as well as the warm water, around you. You feel the ultimate sense of calmness, peace and quiet.

Who can learn to dive?

Almost anyone. The minimum age is 10 years old but there is no a maximum age. You don’t need to be an athlete but you do need to be generally healthy and in a normal physical well-being.

Student divers who are younger than 15 earn the PADI Junior Open Water Diver certification, which they may upgrade to PADI Open Water Diver certification upon reaching 15.

Do I need to get a medical certificate?

As a beginner we need to make sure that you are fit for diving. Please read the questions on Page 1 of this medical statement. If you can answer ‘No’ to every question you don’t need to see a General Practitioner. If you answer ‘Yes’ to any question you will need to see a GP who should complete Page 2 before you can dive.

You can visit a GP in your home country or we can help you to find one here in Zakynthos.

Is SCUBA Diving dangerous?

No is not at all. Scuba diving is a safe and fun family activity. Just listen to your Scuba Instructor and simply follow the safety rules.

Can I run out of air?

It’s very unlikely and you will also learn how to properly check your air supply. You and your Instructor can easily check your air supply like as we read the fuel and the speed gauge on a car. For extra safety we always finish each dive with at least 50 bar of air in the tank, which is spare air enough for at least 10 minutes dive time.

What happens if I feel uncomfortable?

As a beginner you will always be close to your instructor. If you feel uncomfortable you just have to give a signal to your Instructor and you will go together to the surface. CDC has Instructors and Divemasters that have successfully manage all types of situations with hundreds of students. You will be guided underwater in the safest and most comfortable way dependent on your own level of confidence. You are in good hands and this is your greatest chance to learn how to overcome any future adversity.

Will my ears hurt?

Sometimes on mountain hiking, on a flight or diving down to the bottom of a swimming pool you may have a sense of heaviness on your ears. This is because the air pressure is increasing and squeezing your ears. This won’t be a problem while you are diving because your Instructor will teach you a simple technique to prevent this which is called equalization and after that you’ll be able to use this technique on mountain hiking, on flights and in the swimming pool also!

Can I dive during my monthly menstruation period?

Yes you can. If you can do normal daily activities during your monthly period then you can dive during menstruation too.

Can I dive if I wear glasses?

The best option is to wear soft contact lenses while you are diving. Another option is to buy a scuba diving mask with prescription lenses.

Do I need my own scuba diving equipment?

No you don’t. All rental scuba gear is included in the course price. You just need to bring a swimsuit.

Can I communicate with my Instructor underwater?

Of course you can. As a beginner one of the very first things you will learn is how to communicate by underwater signals before your dive begins.

Can I get any photos of my first ever scuba diving experience?

Sure! The underwater photos of your training are included to the course price!
